Vessel ID Sys succesfully powered up
On June 3rd the Vessel ID System, with the ship-traffic surveillance system AIS included, was powered up on-board the Internatinal Space Station (ISS) for the first time ever.
On June 3rd the Vessel ID System, with the well-known ship-traffic surveillance system AIS included, was powered up on-board the Internatinal Space Station (ISS) for the first time ever. Three days were spent for commissioning the payload on-board the ISS, during which data transferred to N-USOC on ground was closely analysed by N-USOC and FFI staff members. The commissioning was successful and the Vessel ID Sys payload will be operated on-board the ISS for the next 2-3 years, supported by N-USOC staff from the Control Room at CIRiS, Dragvoll, Trondheim.
